Wow! I just read this. Been reading her blog forever. Am really surprised. They seemed well matched. Makes me sad. our kids are the same ages.
|
| Huh - you just never know. I haven't read her blog in a while, but too bad... |

I had to google - I have never heard of this woman before.... |
| Not surprised--These blogs always paint a rosy picture but I thought her life sounded crazy, frankly. I mean what is she a lapsed Mormon? there was all this talk about drinking and everything always just a big party--I stopped reading a couple of years ago--it seemed so fake--like "I'm so awesome--look at me"--very inauthentic. Sad, though if they are breaking up. |
| Not surprised. I don't think people can live under that microscope. I would hate it if DH blogged about us and our children. I also wonder if she became an egomaniac. The lifestyle lends itself to self absorption. Her early stuff was funny but I haven't read it in years. |
| I am shocked. But then again, he was married to someone else when he started dating dooce so that doesn't exactly bode well for a marriage. |
| I find Dooce and her legions of copycats/followers to be completely boring and fake. Can you imagine your parent or spouse live blogging your life and all of your foibles, etc. What a bunch of egomaniacal douches. |
|
I've not read much of Dooce, but it seems like whenever I'm on her site it's a lot of really obvious product placement/sponsorship. Good for her for getting advertisers, but I wish it wasn't quite so obvious.
Too bad about her marriage.

Had never heard of her, but checked out her blog. Sharing her whole life might not be ideal for her family, but I give her credit for all the people out there she has helped. I saw how candid she was about post partum depression landing her in the hospital and hopefully that has helped many women get help sooner.
I could never blog-way too private. However, I benefitted so much from other people's blogs. I am grateful people are willing to put it all out there. |

He's blogging his side.

| Don't read her blog but if it's anything like Kelly Hampton I really don't give a shit. |
| Dooce is cray as in suffers from bipolar disorder. |
It is literally the polar opposite of Kelle Hampton. |
| Can someone please give a bit more detail on who this person is and how she has made herself famous? I'm curious but when I looked through a few too many pages of this woman's blog I still don't quite get it. What's the hook? |

She was one of the first prominent so-called mommy bloggers. Although she had been blogging for years, she gained a massive following when she chronicled her challenges with post-partum depression following the birth of her first child eight years ago. She has blogged about many of the challenges of motherhood.
I used to read her religiously but I stopped a few years ago when she stopped focusing on motherhood and started focusing on other stuff. I was shocked to see in that Slate article that she generates more than $1M in ad revenue alone. Crazy! |
