Our almost-three year old has qualified for an IEP (based on attention problems, sensory issues, language delays). We're not sure yet which school we will be assigned, but they have urged us to take advantage of the lottery and apply to as many as we can. I'm having difficulty finding information about the programs as they relate to sn kids. Can anyone recommend a specific school in DCPS or point me in the right direction to find the information? Many thanks......
Apply to Bridges if it isn't too late. They have a great, fully inclusive program with a complete continuum of services.
OP here. Thanks for the info, we've applied to Bridges and Appletree (Columbia Heights), which are both charters. What I'm looking for is information about DCPS. I can tell from the website which schools offer PS 3, but not which ones do a good job with sn kids. Anyone?
Marie Reed. Very responsive team.
OP here. Thanks, pp.
Bridges is the only public pre-school specifically designed as an inclusion school to support SN children across the range of service needs AND still highly educate typically-developing students.
Barnard has a robust autism-spectrum program.
Walker Jones EC
PP here. Forgot to add that Walker Jones does inclusion.
