another name: Joaquin

I love it, but DH thinks people will think we're naming our baby after Joaquin Phoenix. I'm curious about what others think of it: too weird? Too much of a celebrity association?

FWIW, neither of us is Hispanic, but I do have a Hispanic last name that will be passed on to baby as a middle name. I'm sure my ILs would hate it and never learn to pronounce it, but that's the case with most names I like.

Love it. But probably wouldn't use it because a lot of Americans will mispronounce it.

I would only use it if your child is bright enough to skip grade school. That name seems ripe for little kids to make fun of.

I also think of Joaquin Phoenix...but still relly like the name!!!

I like it and highly doubt he'll be teased for it.

I'm not a fan.

I also don't think it's a positive that lots of people, including possibly according to you his grandparents, won't be able to pronounce his name.

Beautiful name. Though, I immediately think of Joaquin Phoenix.

Not a fan, and aside from Phoenix, I'm pretty sure Kelly Ripa also named her one son Joaquin. I wouldn't use it.

This was a name I considered for a hot second. It's beautiful in theory, but in practicality, I think it's too much. It reminds me of Lourdes...a beautiful name, but just not right for real life.

I love it. I have a friend Joaquin. He seems to have done fine in life. Go for it!

I wanted it so bad but DH vetoed it

it's my grandpa's name.

I like the name Joaquin. But, personally I would think it was kind of strange if a kid was named "Joaquin Cruz" and had no Hispanic heritage at all.
