Under $100, I think. Sorry I'm a little vague, it was a while ago, and I bought a nipple shield and a couple of other things at the same time, so I didn't focus on the consultation fee itself. |
PRICELESS!!!! ![]() |
I don't remember exactly, but I do know it depends on the length of the consult; I'm almost certain the "under $100" is correct for around an hour. I would also agree that "PRICELESS" is a good evaluation of the service! They also have free two consults a week for low-income families, if money is an issue. If you have a newborn, you might consider attending the New Moms group (for moms and babies under 4 months) and asking your questions there if money is an issue -- the class is free, and if your question is generic enough you'll likely get it answered. If it's very specific, Pat will recommend a one-on-one consultation. (The class is on Tuesdays, 11:30-1; get there early to make sure you get a seat!) Give them a call for more details on prices, class schedule, etc. Good luck! |
$150 for a private session at your home and $85 for office consultation. |
But you get everything you need in the first session, IMO, so don't be convinced that you need a follow-up. |
I've been there for 2 consults and I think the $85/hour is aout right. They pro-rated my second visit because it was under an hour. They've also been good at quick follow-up phone consults. Honestly, they are the best, so much better than the "lactation consultant" at my ped office. She's pretty much useless - more of an advertising gimic if you ask me. |
I had a very inexpensive phone consultation. It was around $25 I think for 15 minutes. Would have been more if I needed more time of course. I also went to the free classes and they were great! |
Just call for a fee schedule (or an approximation). |
Op, did you know they also have a free breastfeeding class? It's not one-on-one, but if money is a concern, it's a help. I only went twice, but found that the other moms also asked good questions, so not only was my own issue addressed, I learned something. Plus, being in the same room as a bunch of other struggling moms made me feel like I wasn't alone. (And I'm happy to say, eventually DS and I became old pros!) |
I know when I had a consult at the Fairfax Lac. Center there was an extra charge if there was actual contact - like if the LC was touching you and baby for latch issues, holding baby in different positions, etc.
If it was just talking about X, Y, Z then the cost was cheaper. Not sure if the one in DC has a similar fee schedule. |
You could also call your local LLL and they are free! Also, many pediatric offices (capital medical group) have LC's on staff that will work with mom and baby for no charge. Best of luck |
That's just plain wierd! |
I did this, as well. I wrote down all of my questions and we just went through my list one by one. Pat was super efficient and VERY helpful. Worth many, many more times than what I paid for her time!! Good luck! |
