| Is it healthier to eat the skin or peel it off? What if the apple is not organic? Does it make a difference? |
I usually eat the skin b/c I heard that's where most of the fiber is. I guess if it's not organic that's another story. Shoot.
|
| Yeah. Organic or not I eat the peel |
| Me too. |
| Never eat it. I can't stand the feel of it in mt mouth. But all of my kids like the skin. |
| Yes. We only eat organic apples. |
| My favorite part. Sometimes when I get a really big apple, like a honeycrisp, I eat only the skin and then give the rest to DH. |
|
Is this a joke? Do people actually not eat the skin of the apple?
Actually come to think of it, I did have one friend who peeled her peaches before eating raw. |
| I peel my son's apple then eat the peels. Yum. I try to always buy organic apples, though (and I don't buy organic everything) because apples are one of the "dirty dozen." |
| Always. I try to buy organic most of the time, but I haven't been able to find organic Honeycrisp anywhere, and those are just too yummy to give up, so I eat the conventional ones - with the skin on, and that's how my kids eat it too. |
| I thouht it was the healthiest part..and defintely eat it I buy organic but in the fall I will buy local as it seems fresher/tastier. |
|
And yet you're still alive. Imagine.
Most of the nutrition and all of the fiber is in the skin. |
|
Yes. I'm over 2 so it's not a choking hazard.
I also eat the skin on baked potatoes. Not bananas though. Those are for smoking. |
| Yes. I buy organic apples, though. |
| A friend with breast cancer said you should NOT let your kids eat apple skin unless the apple is organic. Apple skin contains some of the highest levels of carcinogens (if not organic) of any fruit. |
