Pasta with ricotta cheese recipe - help me find pls?

Anonymous
A few weeks ago (maybe a month?), someone posted a recipe of pasta mixed with ricotta cheese (maybe something else?), put in the oven, etc. it sounded delicious and I have meant to try it since them. I don't remember in which thread this was posted originally, so, can you help me?

Tia!

Was the something else meat and sauce?

If so, it's called lasagna.

Oooh- that was from me! Ha ha ha....

1 lb lean ground beef or turkey, browned
1 lb medium shell pasta
1 egg
1 15 oz container ricotta
1 lb mozzarella cheese, sliced
1 jar favorite tomato sauce
grated parmesan (maybe 1/4 cup? 1/3 cup?)
dried spices such as oregano, basil, crushed red pepper, salt, pepper

Brown the meat and drain off fat, if any. Season meat with salt and pepper. Cook the pasta until al-dente. While pasta is cooking, mix egg and ricotta with spices and grated parmesan in a casserole dish. As soon as pasta is drained and still steaming hot, add to casserole dish with ricotta mixture. Mix to combine. Spread cooked meat on top. Follow with mozzarella, followed by sauce and a sprinkling of parmesan. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until bubbly. (If you freeze it or refrigerate it before baking, you'll most likely need to bake it longer.)

Thanks pp! I just made it and divided it into two casseroles, one is cooking and the other I want to freeze for later.... Do you bake it before freezing it? How do you freeze?

Hi I should have said that I occasionally bust into a second jar of sauce-- I just sort of look at it and see if it looks like enough to me. So you may want to serve it with some extra sauce on the side! sorry!

As for freezing, nope, I don't bake beforehand- but I usually put it in the fridge the morning I intend to bake it so it's not frozen solid in the evening!
