Hi everyone,
I have used the DCPS website and I do not think it is up to date with the schools that offer PS 3 in the district. I am a first time mom and overwhlemed with this whole lottery business. Can anyone give me a list of PS3 schools in the district? Additionally, my child needs to work with a speech therapist and I think there are schools that focus on special needs. Any info on that would be very helpful! Thanks in advance! |

I'd highly recommend Barnard (DCPS) for a child needing speech therapy--they have a speech therapist onsite. (Who knows, maybe all schools do--but I doubt it.) They're amazing overall for early childhood education.
Bridges (charter) might be another good bet--their mission is to serve special needs and non-SN kids, so while I don't know a ton about them, I'd imagine they'd have good resources on site. |

| Where on the website are you looking, and what makes you think that it's up-to-date? If you go to http://profiles.dcps.dc.gov/ and click on PS under "grade level", you get a list in alphabetical order. You can narrow it by wards, too. |
| sorry, should be "what makes you think that it's NOT up-to-date" |
If your child works with a speech therapist - are you working with Early Stages. If yes, they will work with you to place your child AND your child will be guaranteed a spot as opposed to going through the lottery. |
| The profiles are up-to-date. not all schools have Preschool |

OP here--The reason I think it is not up-to-date is because some schools have pre-k 3, but it is not listed on the database. Ross, for instance. So, I just thought I'd ask the friendly folks here on DCUM for a little help before selecting a potential school for my kid.
I am working with Early Stages, but I would like to do some research on my own first. Thanks! |
| Ross does show up among ps3 schools in the link above in this thread. |
