pelvic exam
sonogram (internal) to verify size (age) and heartbeat
talk about risks and packet of info on future appts.

Some OBs won't give you a packet of info until you've passed the 12 week mark.

Thanks! So I should be able to see a heartbeat then? That would be very comforting...

I saw my baby's heartbeat at 7 weeks and a few days, but I remember doing a little research and seeing that sometimes they couldn't find the heartbeat at that stage (particularly if the baby happened to be a little younger than you think it is). But I think your ob will have you come back in short order if they don't see it at 7 weeks.

i think we didn't get heartbeat till 8 weeks. so possible but don't worry if not

It depends on your doctor. My OB doesn't do early ultrasounds to confirm pregnancy. So you may/may not have an ultrasound.

You'll probably get a labwork request form (or they'll do it there) and they'll draw lots of blood.

My doc. didn't draw blood for the blood test until the preg. was confirmed. Apparently, the blood test is very expensive - over a $1000 - so my doc. wanted to be sure I was pregnant. The blood tests screens for everything...from STDs to red blood cell count and everything in between.
