DC got 5's for all verbal and writing (3 5's out of 5 ratings( the rest DC got a 4 (= dc is at K end of year level)- I think that math will be a 5 once they test more= but a friend always asks for in person conferences- just not sure how much it would yield- miceed between being an overbeaing mom (given great report card) ...

Do you mean send the report card back signed with a request for a conference?

No, don't do that. No point unless you have a concern and it sounds like you have no concerns.

If you're talking about regularly-scheduled Parent-Teacher conferences that happen twice a year, yes, go to those. Good to check in, get elaboration on child's strengths and weaknesses.

I would just send it in and then perhaps email with any specific questions to get a feel for what your DC is doing for enrichment or what they could still work on or something like that.

But certainly you people realize child has no weaknesses? That was the self-justifying response that I was expecting . . .

You are not the OP.

You are a troll who is doing this in other threads, mostly AAP, where a parent mentions their kid's academic success.

Seriously, are you really that bored or that insecure? Yes these types of threads are excessive, but if they bother you that much then quit reading them. Find something else to occupy your time other than making fun of some anonymous parent who is just being proud of her kid.

Perhaps, but don't these parents know they might get a response like that when they brag about their child? And why do they need help figuring something out like this? Reminds me of when my friend bragged about how her 2 year old could do 60 piece puzzles by herself and then asked if any other moms had activities that would help stimulate her 2 year old more. As expected, there was no advice for her and it just annoyed the other moms.

I agree with pp. Sounds a little like bragging. Especially b/c she mentions that the math will be a 5 once they test more?. C'mon it is not earth shattering that the kid gets 5s. So why post here about whether you want a conference with the teacher, such a smart kid but this question has stumped the mom.

If you have a concern about whether your child is keeping up with the class or a behavioral issue, schedule a conference. If you're just hoping to hear more praise about your child and plan to question the teacher about how they can challenge your special snowflake and whether he/she thinks your child is an AAP candidate, please don't waste the teacher's time.

I'm sorry, but I just had to LOL at this one? Academic success??? We are talking Kindergarten here and a stupid little "report" card that lists things 1-5. As a parent whose K actually got almost all 5s, I just find it funny that anybody would consider this "academic success".

Key words "other threads". The academic success referred to is in other threads. The troll understood.

If they want to brag, who cares? Making fun of them is just pointless and mean.

OP here- I asked the questions since honestly I didn't know... I've overreacted in some cases (on injuries/what DC told me) and then others I absolutely had DC's back on a non standard issue- all is well now - but I am still learning of what to do or not in "the system". Everything is really good right now.. A friend had told me he always asks for conferences.. I did talk to him today and he said that if there were no issues (which there were none) and "grades" were good- that it was not necessary.

Yea- there is a troll around here though based on the earlier threads..
