You can rent instruments for a reasonable monthly fee at Potter's violins in Bethesda. Also, a wonderful program for learning violin -- the DC Youth Orchestra Program. You do not need to be a DC resident to participate. Fees are very reasonable. You can start on violin, viola or cello as young as 4 1/2. See www.dcyop.org
