I could see a rerun of 2000

I don't mean hanging chads, exactly. But I'm starting to wonder about the possibility of Obama winning the popular vote and Romney winning the electoral college.

When you look at some of the maps it's hard to see how Obama wins some of the purple states this time around. While he has the winds at his back on the economy now, I'm not sure he'll reach his destination.

The thing he has to fear is that Romney is clearly a buffoon (what scares me about Romney is doesn't appear to listen to counsel) but I think many independents view him as "safe enough" so may be inclined to pull the lever for him.

So, Obama gets the coasts again, but not North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, etc. I wonder if he gets Michigan after saving the auto industry?

You are assuming that Romney will get the R nod. I think that this race if far from over. Romney seems so good at pulling defeat from the jaws of victory.
