Romney: 'I'm Not Concerned About the Very Poor'

Anonymous
With this, coupled with all the division and bloodshed on the road to the republican nomination, the democrats' cup runneth over. This is a gift that keeps on giving...

Thank you so much, republicans. We are grateful.

And now comes the belated news that, following a 12 hour car trip with Romney's Irish Setter, Seamus, stuck in a crate strapped to the roof of the car, the poor dog "self-deported" in Canada. Understandably ran away. "Shame-us" on Mitt Romney!

Unfortunately many voteres aren't concerned about the very poor, either.

Isn't everyone "very poor" compared to Romney?

What middle class? Half the country is poor or near poor.

Yes, you can be sure that Romney understands your middle class problems.

I am a D and plan to vote for Obama, but his statement doesn't bother me in the least. Sure he said it ineloquently but I give him some props for being honest

how many people who live west of kalorama or in McLean/CC/Bethesda really care about the poor when theres such dire poverty down the street from us and it doesnt seem to be changing, just being pushed more and more east by gentrification?

like a PP said, the middle class has its own problems to worry about. I pay my taxes and let the government work it out.

Did you read the entire quote? I'm not a Republican by any means, but the entire quote, in context, is hardly as draconian as its being portrayed.

It is also obvious that Democrats do not care about the "very poor," or there would have been true safety nets.

I agree he didn't mean his statement to sound so crass, but I'm also pretty sure Mitt's definition of 'very poor' would offend you.

I did not want to respond without giving myself time to ponder. After about 20 hours, I think I can say with a fairly cool tone that I think the term "bottom feeders" is offensive. I am not saying that you intended it that way, just trying to give some helpful feedback for your future choice of phrases. Ditto, the assumption that all who need and receive assistance are "free loaders".

If you were parodying Romney's callousness, I apologize for misunderstanding.
