My DS (age 6) has many food allergies and we are in the process of trialing beef. He can eat pork.
He really wants to eat hot dogs. Wellshire has 2 brands that are safe for his food allergy set. They are "Wellshire Premium Beef Frank" (beef) and "Original Deli Frank" (pork and beef). We tried Applegate Organic Beef Hot Dogs and he disliked the taste. I thought they were great...but they did have a lot of seasonings. Anybody tried either/both of these Wellshire Hot Dogs? And advice on which one may be better liked by a child? I know this is a long shot....but hoping someone has some experience with these. Thanks! |
| My son's problem with them is the thick "skin" on the outside of the dog. I end up having to peel them. Otherwise no complaints. Why not just buy some of each and try it? |
| OP here. Thanks for the tip PP. We definitely can buy them, but DH and I don't really eat hot dogs and it is pretty expensive to buy $6 packs of hot dogs and no one eats them. Trying to pick the best one to try next. |

If he hasn't liked the ones you've offered, why keep trying?

My super picky child liked the plain beef ones. She was allergic to eggs, dairy, soy and shellfish and we avoided nuts and seeds, I remember how hard it was. She did outgrow all by K age. Highly recommend Dr. Wood at Hopkins if you need someone excellent for food allergies. POFAK the online group was a life saver as well. Fingers crossed that it goes well! Hot dogs travel well in some boiled water in a thermos, I hope you can add them.
