BASIS DC in THE CURRENT

Have you seen the article in the Current? If so, what did you think?

The school is amazing! I was already sold, but the Current did it fo me I was undecided between Basis, Latin and Georgetown Prep , but Basis is taking the lead. I was torn between schools that are locally ranked, but how can they compete with a school that is ranked nationally?

First poster: hmmm. You like what basis SAYS its GOING to be, so you're sold on the school?

I think I'll wait and see. I'm sending my kid to Latin, I know 6 families with kids there and they all love it.

Parents seems to be happy with Latin. However, the District definitely needs another strong, non- controvertial charter school for the middle/high school grades.
My DS is having tutoring through the STARS programme at BASIS twice a week. I am really impressed by the teacher and the way she puts a lot of thought in every lesson, to meet each child's needs. They definitely seem to be on the right track.

I'm transferring my DC from Latin to BASIS.

I'm aware that many things can go wrong. However, I am a firm believer that many things can go right as well.

I think DCPS is failing us. Thus, I am willing to take risks that many would consider irresponsible to encourage the formation of new charters. Hopefully, my DC is young enough that these risks will not have an adverse impact on college admissions.
