If you send your child to private school, do you live in a good public school district?

I am curious to see how many students live in good school districts but still go to private school.

We did private for elementary, living in a very good MCPS district.

Yes, and we used it too, until learning and social issues made change a necessity. Any school can be a bad fit for a specific child, even if it is an excellent school.

PP here and I agree. We started in private because public was not a good fit for our oldest child. Then we sent the younger child to the same private school because the logistis just wouldn't have worked in two different places. Now the younger child is in public school and it is a great fit.

We live in a JKLMM, but send DD (K) to an excellent private because we don't want to deal with Deal and Wilson.

We live in a great school district in MoCo but still plan on going private because we want smaller classes and more time spent on extras vs. preparing for standardized tests. I'm sure my kids would get a great education at our local public school, but we want something different than what it can offer as far the whole education experience.

Live in a great school district in NoVa but kids at private in DC. Initially we only had 1 and thought we were done so decided to give him the best education we could afford, which was very important to us. He's at a great school-really, our dream school. His twin sisters arrived when our son was 8 and as we are so pleased with the private school system, we have sent the younger ones too.

Nope, live in a pretty bad school district in PG county.

Wootton cluster in MoCo, which is pretty good. I wanted small class sizes for my child, though, and we're doing private for K-8.

Nope -- wouldn't even consider the DC publics

We're in PG Country with a mediocre elementary and then a truly terrible middle school. We're at a parochial school now looking at independents for next year.

Live in MoCo. Very well regarded public one block away. Sent dcs tp private anyway. Agonize over the decision/money every day even though we are having a very positive experience with schools.

Zoned for Montgomery Blair H.S. Had planned to send DC there, but admitted to incredible DC private. Consider Blair a decent backup should something go wrong at current school.
