| Just did the full 4 hour oven clean and when I wiped down the glass window (from the inside) it smeared everywhere. What can I use to clean it? Assuming good old 409 would be a bad choice. Thanks! Not sure how I could not know this given my advanced age, ha ha. |
Not sure if Windex might help, but never use 409 on glass (per directions). I suggest calling an independent appliance dealer for advice. |

I think you're supposed to clean the glass before the self clean...
I would use 50/50 vinegar & water and a microfiber cleaning cloth and scrub. Maybe baking soda if you need a little abrasive. If you have the manual for your oven it probably has recommendations. |

Honestly, I have no idea how to clean an oven. I'm afraid to even run the self-clean because I don't know how!
Are you supposed to use cleaners in an oven if it is self-clean? I thought that caused problems? (And how often are you supposed to self clean? Does it ever burn the house down? Does it smell?) |

I'd just buy some oven cleaner, open the door and spray it on the window -- then let it sit for awhile.
Mine is so pitted it's practically opaque. |
Definitely read the oven manual. But some starters--do when you can leave the windows open, as it will smell. It will take several hours, and you cannot leave it unattended. Do not leave racks and other removable items in the oven when you have it self-clean. (They're not made to take the heat.) We use the self-clean option about once a year. |
| when you self clean do not use cleaners. the oven will heat up to extremely high levels - higher than the usual 500 limit. that is the point - it basically cremates everything in there so you can wipe it out. As for glass, I'd wait til after. But open your windows and turn on a fan because you will need to air the place out. |
| Buy some easy off....works for mine |
| I tried to self clean, but I have no vent or hood over the stove in the kitchen and it smoked us out - at least we know the fire alarms work! |

Anyone have any magic tips for cleaning the inside of the inside glass window of oven?
Somehow a sauce that got spilled down the front of the oven got inside the glass. It must be double paned, I can't clean it from the front or the back/inside of the oven! |
YES! I have this problem, too. Today I poured a bunch of baking soda on the glass and scrubbed with the green side of that green/yellow sponge. It took a lot of elbow grease but a lot came up. |
I had this problem too....I actually unscrewed the door and took the oven door apart. It was a little tricky. Have your husband or someone to help get it back together. Many of the sites I looked at actually recommended an appliance repair company. http://www.acmeparts.com/forum/showthread.php?1547-How-to-clean-inside-oven-door |
