Broad Branch Montessori ? Current/Former parents

Hi, I visited the school and it seems very nice and warm. Any insight on the school? How does it work taking so many kids to the park? Not much info out there. Thank you!

Never a parent, but toured and really liked how beautiful the space is. But honestly, it is really expensive for what it is: a lot of circle time and walks to the park. They do offer before and after care for even the little ones, so I can see how this appeals to working parents. But for me, I wanted more true Montessori instruction, and this school is not certified by AMI or AMS. Lots of stuff on the shelf from places like IKEA, which I didn't like. Very nice director, though, at least when I met him. I think they are somehow connected to the Franklin school in DC.

We toured, but I didn't like that they said that most of the art and music was during after-care, not during the time that my kid would be there. But I'm not sold on the Montessori method itself, so I'm probably not their target audience. It is a beautiful space.

Bump. How does BBCH compare to Franklin Montessori in Van Ness? I know they are under the same umbrella entity, but other than size, how do the two schools compare?

I've never heard this before - how are they linked? Are they owned by the same people?

Franklin does follow the true montessori method closely, while it sounds like Broad Branch is further from that. Also, I'm almost positive that Franklin is either AMI or AMS certified. I can't speak to how Broad Branch is, but I can say that the program at Franklin is wonderful and my daughter has absolutely thrived there.

I took the unprecedented step of calling the school and asking the director: they are an AMS member school, just like Franklin.

AMS member school just means one teacher or the director has received the 3 month AMS training and has a bachelors degree. And did the 100 or so classroom hours. Not at all as stringent as AMI, but most parents don't really care I imagine.
