| Just trying to get an idea of what others do. I do bath after dinner bc my babies are so messy with dinner in their hair and all over. My mom was over and said one should never take a bath right after dinner because it can cause indigestion or something. I never thought of it that way but I remember it wasn't a good idea to go swimming as a kid right after eating. I did notice my baby 15 months old sometimes throws up a little after the bath. My 3-year old seems fine. What do you all do? |

We always do dinner, bath, book, bed. It works for us because the bath
calms her down and the transition to book, bed is so much easier. All children are different, but this is what works for us. Good luck! |
| After dinner. He just sits in the tub, doesn't really swim. |
| Have always done bath after dinner, but DC is usually done with dinner 30-45 minutes before bath. If you're worried about it, maybe just do dinner a little earlier to allow more time in between. |
We almost always do bath after dinner but since we started working later and getting home later, sometimes it's just faster to do bath while dinner is in the oven. But DC is 4 so doesn't get so messy that a hand washing and quick washcloth to the mouth area isn't enough

This old wives tale was debunked long ago. |
| Thanks! Glad to hear my way is fine! My mom has a way of making me question my mothering skills sometimes with her wives tales, of which she has many!!!! I will keep up the baths after dinner! |
| We always do the bath after dinner - it started when my daughter was a much messier eater, out of necessity. Now it's just part of the night-time ritual. We've never had an issue with indigestion or barfing. |

The problem with bath after dinner is when they get to cold. The blood goes from the guts to the extremities to keep the body warm, that's why your 15mo old throws up.
Just make sure the room is warm and warm up the towels. |
| After. It helps them wind down - plus if they get dirty during dinner its not a big deal. |

My DS has GI issues. When he was an infant, his Doctor suggested that we put him in a warm big tub of water after eating. I held him every night in the bath tub with me from about a month old until he could sit safely by himself.
Now he is 6 and we have moved bath time to before dinner. Purely a result of logistics only. He seems to get more wound up before bed if the bath waits till after dinner. |
