What stores sell quality nursing bras?

Anonymous
I am having a hard time finding a good nursing bra. I am aware of a few websites which sell nursing bras (from the Baby Bargains book, 2007 edition), but I would like to be able to try them on before purchasing any. Could you recommend any stores which sell them? I am looking for something affordable, but of good quality.

Target is actually a pretty good source for nursing bras, and you can return anything within 90 days, even after having tried it on.

Urghh I hate the Target nursing bras. If you are looking for Bravado, Medela, Fancy Free etc- Check out the Breastfeeding Center at 2141 K St. They will fit you and you can try several one. If you buy more than 3, you get a free sleep bra.

I got high quality ones at the Breastfeeding Center on 21 and K St.

I liked the cheap Target ones better than the Medelas I bought from the lactation place at the hospital, but none were reallly great--was so glad to put them all away when we were done with nursing.

Recent 2nd time mom here. Just bought two more of my "favorite" from the first time around. I bought them at Mimi and they are different from others because they have snaps like baby's onsies in the middle of the bra. I find them so much easier than the onces that attach on the straps. I think they are $38 but well worth it. Mimi has many styles that you can try on in store or order/view online. Much better than the ones I bought that were cheaper at Motherhood. Not a great return policy but I loved these. I nursed for 14 months the first time so they were well used and am trying to go to one year again this time. Hope you find some you like.

Victoria's Secret has just started selling nursing bras, but they're only sold online. I've been meaning to buy one to try it out. I just had #2 and I hated all of my nursing bras rom #1.

can you post a link to their nursing bras? I couldn't find any mention of them on the VS website. expecting #2 and would love to have something more attractive this time around...

I loved the Bravado microfiber - not the jogbra style ones that were around a few years ago.

You can buy them online at Nordstroms and they might be in the stores as well. Also, Sylenes in Chevy Chase has a small but very nice selection. THey run in the $30-40 range, but for something you wear so often, I thought it was well worth it. They professionally fit you, which is really nice since I had no clue what size I was.

I was disapointed by Sylene's - they have beautiful things there, but none of the nursing bras they had fit. As in, even my just-gave-birth, fully engorged boobs were too small. Which was, er, a bit of a let-down. My favorites were the tank-style bras - I think mine were bravado, purchased at Sibley.

To the PP - I"m surprised. I'm normally a AA, and I was able to find something at Sylenes. I guess it totally woman-specific.

I've been nursing for 15 months so I have tried everything out there (or feel like I have). The two bras I like the best by far I got at the Mimi maternity at Mazza Gallerie. They didn't have much selection but I bought one of each kind they had and they turned out to be winners.

You might check with the Lactation consultants at your local hospital. I know the one near me measures and sells the nice nursing bras (including Bravado).

I hated the Motherhood ones I bought and liked a Medela sleeping bra I bought at BRU.

Everyone is different- I hate the Medela bras I bought at Sibley but love the Bravado and the Target sleepers (I'm wearing my Target right now). I've been nursing for 15 months too.
