I just happened across this bit of news in the news release for the FY2013 budget. It appears the sites have not yet been selected.
1) does anyone have any intel on what schools might be under consideration? 2) any idea how they are planning to handle enrollment? Would they hold a separate lottery in the summer for the new schools? I'm really interested because we moved this past summer (our old neighborhood was close to 3 of these schools) and I gave up hope of the immersion schools since they were all just a bit too far to be convenient (since they don't offer out of boundary busses). If a school opens closer to me than a 20 minute drive in the wrong direction, I might consider enrolling my child next year (she'd be in first grade). |
| 74 people have viewed this and no response at all? Is it just that no one knows anything about the details? |
| I doubt the proposed budget will be final as the proposed budget depends on a fairly significant increase in the County transfer. |
| i have neard about this too, but the school board just came out with their budget for next year. first the money needs to be approved, then they'll pick the schools. it's like full day kindergarten last year. that wasn't decided until may or june last year. |
I realize it may or may not happen - since my daughter is in K, I was following the full-day K proposal last year for several months. It was 100% decided the day before Memorial Day weekend, to be exact We celebrated with several pitchers of sangria that next night!
I was just wondering if anyone had any clue if the school board already had schools in mind if it DOES happen. Also, if it DOES happen, I am trying to figure out what procedure they would use to select students since the lottery for the other schools at the first grade level closes next month. Again, very aware that it may or may not happen. Just curious... |
No idea, but it might be worth listening in on the February 2 2012 work session devoted to the budget to get a sense if anything is shared. |
Good call. Thanks! |
