What is the best, safest, easiest to clean, put away etc... Am thinking of registering for the Peg Perego Prima Pappa Best Nuvola High Chair. Is it worth it or just a waste of money. I am interested to hear from those of you with kids. In advance, many thanks.

I have heard good things about the fisher price space saver - but do not have any direct experience yet. |
My two cents - wait to buy a high chair. You won't need one for quite a while (until baby can kind of hold head up/sit up).
You can get high chairs gently used on Craigs List. I recently acquired a Fisher Price Healthy High Chair and DD really likes it. We also tried the Graco high chair on vacation and it worked well. I like having multiple tray inserts so that I don't have to keep washing trays! |
I bought a high chair from IKEA for about $19 and it's decent. It was recommended by a friend who absolutely loved it for some reason. Best thing is the price and its modern, streamlined look. Anyway, I needed something cheap, but it doesn't sound like price is your primary consideration. |
18:08 here. I would strongly recommend one of the high chairs that adjusts up and down and also has a recline feature. It seems a lot more comfortable for kids and now that we got one with more features (and more plush), DD seems to be more willing to hang out in her high chair for longer.
We had another high chair to begin with. Nice chair, but not as plush (wooden model with plastic tray) and she will not sit in it as long. |
What about the ones that are portable, attach to the side of the table, I think one is called "me too". soft canvas and can go everywhere and fold up nicely? |
18:08 here. We looked at those, but they are not as comfortable for the baby and you must have a table with which it will be compatible. As an example, they say not to use those with pedestal kitchen/dining room tables. I was also worried about marring the top of my table. We do also have a booster-type seat that straps to a normal chair. Handy for eating out, but DD makes big messes, so I would not want that at home right now (maybe when she is older). Np tray equals more mess for mom! High chairs are great because they have the nice big tray that helps contain mess. |
I love our Chicco Polly high chair. Has all the features (multiple heights, reclines, removable tray, etc. plus it's easy to clean). And great customer service... The recline feature stopped working; I called the company and within days there was a new high chair on my doorstep. If you're short on space and $, the Fisher Price booster seat with the tray is great and cheap. We bought it for my son as a booster seat when he was ready to eat at the table, but it comes with a tray and could be used for a younger baby.
IMO, I wouldn't recommend buying a used high chair off Craig's List unless it was barely or never used. Our high chair got gunked up rather quickly; even with cleaning, there are some crevices that food gets in that I'm sure I can't get to. |
My sister and I were pregnant at the same time. She got the Primo Pappa and I got the F-P Healthy Care. Hers was both more expensive than mine and less convenient to use. That was a few years ago - I don't know if they have changed or not.

I'll tell ya what NOT to buy..
I hate my Chicco Polly HC. It's awful and the food gets stuck in all kinds of places that are hard to clean! The tray button broke and it cost $30 for a replacement! I like the FP Healthy Booster seat, but only useful after they can sit upright. |
We hate our Peg Prima Pappa! The only way to get it totally clean is to take it outside and hose it down. DH keeps telling me I need to go buy another high chair since ours is so awful. My mom has a cheap Fisher Price (I forget what model, but she bought it at Target) at her house for when we go visit and I like it way better than my Peg Perego.
Also, I agree with the PP who said to hold off on buying a high chair. Depending on your pediatrician, you won't introduce solids until 4-6 months. We found it much easier to put baby in his Bumbo seat for his first few months of feedings, so we didn't use our high chair until 7-8 months. Who knows, by then they may come out with a perfect new model that beats all the high chairs we have now. |
Previous poster with two high chairs... I have never had a problem with the caked on food sludge referred to elsewhere. I was looking at both of our chairs and there just are not that many crevices. We have a wooden high chair and also a Fisher Price Healthy High Chair. |
Does anyone have any opinions on the Stokke trip trapp? |
I have a Stokke. It wasn't so great at first b/c it didn't have a tray and wasn't as easy to wipe during the food flinging phase. Now that DS is a toddler and I'm adjusting it to be a regular chair, it's been great! |
I highly recommend the Boon. It is SO easy to clean and nice to be able to adjust the height so DD can sit up to the table too. |
