Customized cupcakes in NoVA

Anonymous
DC's birthday party is coming up and I'm not much of a baker. Looking for a place that will do a simple decoration on the top of cupcakes in line with the theme of the party. Most of the better known places like CakeLove and Baked&Wired don't seem to be able or willing to do any kind of design on top of their basic vanilla or chocolate cupcakes.

Any ideas in the Arlington/McLean/Falls Church area?

Love her. She's done a bunch of birthday cakes for my kids. Very creative.

Georgetown Cupcakes will do custom decor although it depends what you are looking for. They probably can't do a disney princess in a tiny piece of fondant, but we have had them do initials, age, even a cross for confirmation. You can pick the color. And at least last time we ordered there was no extra charge for the tops.

Fluffy thoughts in McLean will do cupcakes with decorative fondant on top for extra. (They are not inexpensive ... but the size of the cupcakes is good for kids - not too huge). Got some for Super Bowl party last year with the team colors for the icing and logos.

So much easier to order the toppers on Etsy (can customize to whatever theme, color, etc...) and just make boxed cupcakes at home. It's always a hit for us. Just search "fondant cupcake topper" (maybe add in Sesame Street if you get too many results).

In line with other posters, you could get basic cupcakes from one of the above mentioned places and then put toppers or "picks" into them from etsy or one of the craft stores.

thanks to the pps for the local recommendations. Tell me about this. People ship you finished fondant products and you just lay them on top of your cupcakes?
