Teething question RE: molars

So, my guy is 16 months old and he's cutting two molars it looks like, one on each side. Is it normal for the area around where they are cutting teeth to look blue, like a bruise? One of them looks like that; the other one just looks really swollen. He's fine, a little fussy this AM but otherwise his usual charming self. Anyway, I thought I'd ask the pediatrician about this tomorrow but maybe it's just as easy to ask the moms and dads first. So, anything to worry about?
