product to use on gray roots between trips to the salon?

hi, all. I'm trying to space out my trips to the salon to dye my roots, so I can save some money. but my roots are really gray and quite noticeable when my hair starts growing out. (I dye my hair dark brown to match my natural color.) Are there any products out there that I can apply that will make the gray less noticeable? Maybe something I can brush through the roots? I seem to remember something that looks like a mascara brush that applies color that washes out with the next shampoo.

thanks for any advice!

I need to know too! I am new to grey hair at 41. I have naturally dark brown hair and just got semi-permanent salon rinse. I don't have a ton of grey yet, but I am on my way.

I have used Clairol Root Touch-Up and it really works. I am 100% gray so the roots really are noticeable, and this allows me to stretch it out another two or three weeks.
