obgyn recommendations?

Anonymous
Does anyone have a recommendation for a caring obgyn office that isn't run like a baby factory? After a year of infertility treatment I conceived but miscarried at 15 weeks. My obgyn's office was not helpuful and supportive so I am now looking for a new obgyn. Has anyone had a good experience with a doctor that they'd recommend? I'd prefer a doctor around Old Town.

There are lots of ob/gyn recommendations on the "Expectant Moms" forum. Go take a look.

Many of the women on the expectant moms thread have not experienced infertility. I'm looking for an obgyn that is sensitive to what I've been through. Any suggestions ladies?

Dr. Robert Footer is excellent, but he's in NW DC. If him not being in Old Town is not a deal breaker, I definitely recommend him. I have PCOS and decided to treat it naturally, with acupuncture and herbs. He was very caring and supportive, and made sure I kept him in the loop even though I'd chosen not to take the fertility drugs he wanted to put me on. And now I'm 10 weeks pregnant and he's been wonderful. Good luck!

I also just had a miscarriage and found my doctors to be incredibly compassionate and caring. I had actually switched practices from the one I used for #1. I had not had my first appointment, so I was not sure how it would go when I had to call with issues. They immediately worked me in and were so kind and warm. Definitely did not feel like a factory - very personal and nice staff.

Not in Old Town, but in Arlington. Drs. Jeffrey Elliott and Susanne Lashgari and VHC. I saw both and liked them both. Hope to continue seeing them under happier conditions.

are you looking for VA? drs andersen, davis, maanavi, muasher, and yoon have been great for me -- 1 miscarriage, 1 termination b/c of a fatal chromosonal abnormality and one successful pregnancy! for infertility i saw dr. muasher's husband who is in the same building. can't say enough about how supportive they were through all of my issues.

good luck!

I also go to this practice, suffered multiple miscarriages, and saw Dr. Suheil Muasher. I would consider this a "baby factory" sort of practice, although I did develop a very good relationship with one of the doctors who also delivered my baby. After my first miscarriage, two of the doctors were quite insensitive. One was conducting a vaginal ultrasound and couldn't find a heartbeat - she was very rough and left the room several times, slamming the door behind her, leaving me with my legs spread, and then returning with different equip. Eventually she called in another doctor to help her and they both awkwardly told me the news that this was a very bad sign. Both had trouble looking me in the eye. I was stunned. It was so awful. I did continue with the practice after that though.

Dr. Elliot is excellent and definetely not a baby factory. He has been my doctor for 10 years, always caring, always wise. He delivered my first child and supported me during my recent miscarriage and encourage me to seek help from an endocrinologist when it was obvious that I was suffering from secondary infertility. When I said he was supportive, this was probably an understatement: he actually hugged me while I cried for almost 7 minutes. I love Dr. Elliot !

I beg to differ! This is a factory run practice! I was in and out of the exam room in a flash! They even bypassed my serious medical issues that should have been diagnosed at least a month a head of time! I ended of having an emergency C-section at 36 weeks by one of the Dr.'s and she didn't even talk to me before, during or after the surgery! Talk about being professional, courteous and sensitive!

Pat Bannon - Probably the best OBGYN I know. Very compassionate but also very good.

I've had wonderful care from Dr. Elliot and Dr. Sue Lashgari in Arlington (703) 525-8800 They are both board certified.

Both are caring and patient with great bedside manner. Dr. Lashgari even visited me in the emergency room when I miscarried. She had spent hours being on night duty and was just about to go home when she got the message from her staff. She just came by to give me a hug before going home. Lovely gesture.
