hair loss at 5 months post-partum

Anonymous
Hi there, second child and I'm 5 months post-partum. Stopped breastfeeding last month. Got my cycle back. So I thought all of the hormones had sorted themselves out, but now my hair is falling out in clumps. Anyone else experience this? Is this normal?

Hi,

I am 6 months postpartum and still breastfeeding. My hair has been falling out in huge clumps for two months now. My doctor told me that this is very normal. Nothing to worry about!

I am 8 months postpartum and still breastfeeding. My hair has been falling since my baby was born. But it had stopped falling completely during my pregnancy so i figure I am overdue.

DD is almost 5 months, still BF, and I just started noticing large amounts of hair falling out. I had my hair cut yesterday and I told my stylist. She thought it seemed kind of late for it to start falling out but told me she has a client who is 1 year PP and the hair is still falling out

It's a sad horrible thing isn't it? I feel as though I'm almost as bald as DD (almost 6 months). I feel your pain and although I think it's different as to when it happens it seems to be the norm. Mine started to fall out to the point where it was clogging the drain in the shower (hellloooo Drano) and that was about 5 or 6 weeks ago. My guess is that I've lost about 1/3 or more of my hair possibly as much as 1/2 and I have thin crappy hair to begin with. The plus side was that I had great hair for a little while and a wonderful DD.

Congrats on your baby!!!
