UPDATE re longshot cheese Q in WNY

Anonymous
OP back from that thread. So, I had ordered the brick cheese from Widmer's and it just came. I opened the box and pulled out the three types of brick cheese that I had ordered: curds, mild and specially aged. I'm really sad to report that the cheese I am trying to find is NOT brick cheese. The flavor and especially the consistency is all wrong. The cheese I am looking for is really dry and the brick cheese is really moist. BUMMER!!!

Thanks to all that helped. There were some other cheeses that PPs suggested and I am going to keep on trying.

Better luck next time. What's on the menu, fondue?

OP, I'm going to poll my family for you-- especially DH's family whose Buffalo roots go further back than mine do. I'll let you know what I find out!

Try Yancy's Fancy. I saw their ad while watching a Sabre's game the other day.

Was it a hard salty cheese, sort of like Romano or Parmesan? If so, try sardo.

OP back -- not a hard salty cheese. Hard and very dry, but didn't crumble when cubed, still cubed nicely. Like a cheddar on steroids. With a strange aftertaste, but pleasant.

19:41, any luck?
