How will you feel if your kid's practice field location changes to a location that is super inconvenient for you if your kid gets moved to a different level team? Or when games have to be rescheduled because ST James/FCV doesn't have fields that are "theirs"?

I don't have a kid who plays there, but we are avoiding it because both of these scenarios have happened to people we know.

Maybe my expectations are different, but my kid has played soccer for many years and I can’t think of a season where we had a single field location for practice or games. It was usually a set of fields that would be loaded into the team app and occasionally due to some unknown reason they would change field locations from the original field. None of these fields are so far from each other that the difference between playing on one or the other makes a huge difference. In the end I expect a similar circumstance at our new club. There seems to be a lot of entitlement on this thread around fields. Pele played with mangos after all.

Most of the FCV critics here are from the GA teams. The expectations are higher because of how much they pay and comparisons with other GA and ECNL teams in the area. These teams almost all have dedicated artificial turf fields, video analysis of games, qualified professional coaches, fitness trainers, college placement, etc. Right or wrong that’s the expectation. The uncertainty with fields and coaches that FCV created this year freaked people out and most left the club for something more certain.

NVA/LS only has 2 dedicated turf fields. That's not enough for all the teams. They may get priority with the other fields but there aren't enough turf fields in Loudoun to go around. We have had practices cancelled for weather and also moved around. All the other complaints I see about FCV happen with other clubs too. Sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know.

Actually, i do not believe that is true any longer. Historically they’ve had 2, both at LS Park. But with more new turf fields becoming available in Loudoun they also have priority at Bolen Park(field 21) and one of the turf fields at Hanson Park (field 2).

Priority is not the same as dedicated.

As of now, all they have next year (North) is Hanson 1, 3, and 12.

I predict:
Hanson 1 will be for the GA teams
Hanson 3 will be for Rec
Hanson 12 will be for all the rest of Travel.

And good luck if it rains - or it rained the day before....as Field 12 doesn't drain.

are 3 and 12 grass fields?

Yes. 1 is turf.

1 is only lined for 11v11. 3 is lined for 7v7. 12 is lined for 9v9.

So LS has 2 dedicated and priority on another 2 or 3.

How much does FCV have? 0.0

The difference is that StJ/FCV’s various fields that they have used are more spread out. Different level teams within an age group practice at very different locations. If your kid starts on a team that practices in Chantilly, for example, and gets moved to a team that practices in Springfield, that’s a big issue for a lot of parents juggling work and other kids’ activities. At most clubs that use multiple fields, there is at least a main location for a particular age group.

Is the movement between teams part of the deal when you play with StJ/FCV? Did you know that was a possibility when you signed up? What did it say in your signing agreement? This is not a one way street. When we joined our club we got it in writing the circumstances that mattered to us. If the agreement changes, then there is recourse available from our perspective.

AB & Co. should realize they are operating from a place of weakness. The normal snowballing and stringing people along that is the youth soccer business should go out the window when it is widely known that your club has been filleted by VRSC and the surrounding ECNL clubs.

For what it is worth I have not to date experienced any lack of transparency or honesty with FCV. Nobody promised me a new stadium to practice in. I guess time will tell, but if the offer was to play on a specific team and if that changes we can cross that bridge. But at this point I have zero reason to believe that what they have said is inaccurate or untrue. Again, it seems like context matters, and that some of the targeted past experiences mentioned here are with respect to certain individuals rather than representing the entire club. I can understand that the club experience is largely defined by your own personal interactions with representatives of said club, but that doesn’t mean every representative interaction is the same.

😂

Didn't watch the preseason zoom town hall meeting, eh? You being ignorant and uninformed doesn't make what everyone else is saying untrue. The field and facility promises are well documented and an ongoing problem for years that gets kicked down the road.

I am a new poster. We are family that signed on two of our players. We left another club for the same list of reasons a previous poster said was why the other clubs are better than fcv. I guess that grass is always greener and only time will tell for all of us.

Here is my take on TSJ/FCV.

It sounds like the club didn’t handle an abrupt state of turmoil well with key staff leaving and then players following. Sounds like they should have been transparent about the challenges and rally the club together as a community, but did not. I am sure it wasn’t easy for them or the families at that time going through such an abrupt shakeup and many unknowns. New challenges are hard and we don’t always make the right choices in the moment.

It’s possible the club learned from their mistakes and also have more answers now because it took some time to get them. This may be why new and existing families are saying we have all of the information we could possibly want and what is typical of any club right now. It’s unfortunate that some families didn’t stick around for resolution but everyone needs to do what’s right for them.

So let’s focus on the current state, not what happened before. We know our TSJ coaches and like their style a lot. This was the main reason for leaving the last club. We definitely know our fields for next year and the club fees are completely on par with our previous fees. These are the straight facts of today. Pretty basic. Not even interesting to talk about but the gaslighting on this page is just so annoying.

It is so strange that the posts here don’t seem grounded in current reality. But I guess that’s because for some reason most of the people who post here aren’t affiliated with the club.

I suggest that the current families take this thread back for regular club information and chatter. We don’t need to live in the past. Let’s look forward.

I'll respond to your comical novel in one coherent sentence....

You are the one not grounded in reality and as a newcomer have no idea what you are talking about.

If you had just said where your fields are you probably could have ended this thread since that seems to be what most people are concerned with

So if I were to tell you where the fields willl be would you believe me?

I’m not taking the bait. There is no answer that will satisfy a parent or competitor club.
