Is all Stevia gross?

Anonymous
I have had to cut out all sugar (yes, natural ones too) and was told I can only have Stevia or xylitol as sweeteners. I don't need a lot but I do miss a little sweetness. I bought whole foods brand Stevia packets and even a small sprinkle of it on my oatmeal (can't even have fruit right now) and it was gross. Should I try xylitol? A liquid Stevia? Just give it up? Any suggestions?

Honestly, I think stevia is much sweeter than sugar, and not as tasty. I much prefer a little bit of honey or maple syrup, sorry.

Do you mind me asking why you had to cut out all sugar? Obviously you don't have to answer.

Systemic yeast, candida--according to my naturopath. So not even a little honey. Sigh.

My mom uses the liquid kid in her tee and likes it. I personally haven't tried it.

i like stevia- I think it's all relative. If you stick with it, it will grow on you. Have you ever fasted, or been very ill, like with the flu, and when you finally start feeling better -- everything tastes great...? You will get used to stevia and it will be your sweetness. Right now your tastes are accustomed to the hyper sweetness of honey, processed sugar and fruit. But soon you will become accustomed to stevia and it will taste better. You are doing your body a huge favor and following some very good doctors orders. Stick with it! You can do it! Soon you will find sweetness everywhere -- I am completely off sugar and find a certain celestial seasonings herb tea- i think it has licorice in it - tastes really sweet. I think it's "tension tamer" and it's my desert now. Good luck! You can do it!

Oops! I'm meant liquid kind in her tea, not kid in tee, lol.

If you have to cut out all sugars including natural ones, how are you allowed stevia, just curious?

Why don't you ask your quack health care provider for some alternatives?

I've been using Truvia for a while and like it - just don't use as much as you would sugar. I use it in tea, though, not on top of things

Is there a reason you can't use Splenda?
