Maybe it's just a sign that I am an old fuddy-duddy now, but I think the fashion these days are so ugly. Tunics, loud prints, metallic leather...
I would like to update my wardrobe, but just can't bring myself to buy anything these days. |
| I hear you. . .but being 8 months pregnant, I have to say that I am liking the tunics! Most of the upper part of my maternity wardrobe is not in fact maternity. And I am not small. . . |
| I agree! I was talking to my 25yr old sister and she hates everything too, so this is not an age thing. Just the other day she said that we'd be looking back on today's fashions tomorrow and call it a "dark time". I REALLY hate the ugly loud colors that are in-style. Barf |
| i only mind those loud bright colors on crocs. who would think orange shoes with swiss cheese holes was fashionable for the entire family. But my son BEGGED me for them, and they are quite practical in the summer, so I got off my fashion horse and bought him neutral colored ones. |
| I feel you, and also wonder if I'm just old and cranky. I look around and want to tell some folks that what they are wearing was ugly back in the 80's, too. |
Yes, but now that I an not pregnant anymore, it is depressing that all the tops look just like the maternity ones I was wearing two years ago. Or require me to be in the shape I was in as a teenager. What a choice. I have to agree with the OP. Most of it is a big yuck. |
| I agree! I was in the Gap the other day and the fabrics looked so cheap and ugly and the styles didn't flatter ANYONE, including teenagers. I like the flats, and the empire line can be flattering on some, but the rest looks yuck. And what's up with the muffin tops? It's just sloppy looking! |
| I have such trouble finding a simple, plain, long fitted black skirt. Everything has ruffles at the hem, flared hems, pleats or some weird seaming design. I will have to sew one myself! |
| I am so glad it's not just me. Thanks for posting. |
| Agreed, but the 80s were the worst. Unfortunately, I was in my 20s then. All the pictures of me in college, etc. are SO UGLY. |
| Those tiny narrow ballet flats look good on about 2% of the female population. Those will AA narrow feet and slender ankles and elongated calves. |
You are so right about 80's fashion in the 80's, but at least we were thinner then (I mean, as a nation - not necessarily me or you). Just imagine 80's fashion with a muffin-gut! |

I disagree. I think there's something for everyone. Link below is for Neiman's "top trends" for fall. I'm not a trendy kind of girl - I like classics - but there are some great accessories. Also try JCrew and those stores for more updated versions of the classics.

| Any more I only shop at Talbots or Brooks Brothers. . .while these things are expensive, I buy classic items and I have them for years and buy a couple of new items and add them to my wardrobe, usually from Target or Kohl's to be somewhat current. But I too cannot spend hard earned money on the crappy fashion that's out there nowadays. |
| I love Brooks Brothers too! I buy basics and tailored clothes, always have but lately I have noticed that the women shopping next to me all have white hair and are in their 70s. I've stopped a few times and wondered..... |
