| Curious to hear what people know, and are thinking... |
| Here is a link to their website, and information on upcoming Open Houses: http://www.creativemindspcs.org/admissions.html |
| Be careful, the playground that they use accross the street is not the safest place. |
Can you give some more information, please? |
|
Is this the same one to be used by Mundo Verde? Seems like 2 schools using the same small playground could cause some logistical issues, no?
Supposedly homeless people poop there. I spoke to them at the charter school expo. It sounds pretty great in concept, but I know nothing about the founders. |
|
We play at that playground, it is fine.
Interested to see where the school goes, it seems like it could be great. There was another thread on it before. Might search for it. |

Mundo Verde and Creative Minds will be in the two separate areas of the current Cap City upper schools space. Creative Minds has the former mansion side and Mundo Verde the wing on the left that's set up in more traditional classrooms.
That playground is ok but certainly not great. No grass, not what I would call a green space. Doesn't Sacred Heart use it too? |
The kids can also walk to Girard Street Park which is 10-15 min walk (equivalent distance the MV kids currently walk to Mitchell Park). |
| From our investigation, it looks great for my child with attention issues and my friend's child with ASD. Very child-centered. |

My child attends Creative Minds and the playground space is great.
1. The have converted the back parking lot behind the school into a play area. It has a garden the school is actively building together, bikes with a painted track, a large sandbox, jump ropes, etc. 2. The park across the street is huge has tons of options and is safe. Creative minds has a schedule with MV so both schools are not on the playground at the same time to avoid over crowding. 3. It is clean. The school has worked tirelessly all year to ensure it is clean and safe. They have worked with pcs board, dc parks, police department, attended community meetings, and held their own park clean up on weekends. Keep in mind everyone we live in a large city, things come up, it's what you signed up for living in our nations capitol. With all that said great school, amazing staff, lots of supplies, and tons of space inside and out for children. |
| Seems weird to pull up an old thread for that. |
As a parent (and speaking with other parents) I heard there were a lot of comments (good and bad) about our son's school on here. This morning I searched for what was posted and felt this was a valid point to bring up old thread or not. Some posters are making the playground situation seem like a negative aspect of Creative Minds when it is not. Just wanted to clarify and set the record straight. |
Agree. |
So you revived and old thread that died about your school? You can't be for real. There are tons of more recent threads trashing your school, address that. Attrition thread, bad management thread, rude phone thread, but this is months old. People had forgotten about it, until you dug it up. Great job. |
Your'e right I did revive an old thread about CM because it seemed fit to clarify. So yes I am for real. Are you for real with your negative demeanor on here? Is this a sight where you can verbally bully other parents? I hope you don't pass on this attitude to your children. I have every right to defend our school. I have seen the other threads and have commented as I saw fit. Have a wonderful weekend. |
