| Thinking of moving to the RCF area. Any familes that live here and like it, or don't like it? Also, how long is the commute into DC? Any SAHM in the neighborhood? |

Love RCF -- commute into city varies from 15 minutes to 45 (time of day, etc.,.). Several SAHM's (I'm not one of them so can't speak to that -- on a leave day today which is why I can write). DC doesn't attend the local school, and we have heard that while it is perfectly fine, you have to do lots of supplementation with activities, etc., but I suspect that is the case for any situation.
Good luck! Values in the neighborhood seem to have held steady, by the way, although a couple of homes are taking an awfully, awfully long time to move. . . . |
| There are quite a few burglaries and car break-ins in the neighborhood. It's a nice neighborhood overall, but it you have to be vigilant about strange characters lingering around. Commute to DC is a breeze. |
| We have been here for 6 years and love the neighborhood. There is definitely a mix of WOHMs and SAHMs. The Rock Creek Pool is great and a wonderful way to meet others. As one pp said, the commute can be really fast (it has taken me only 15 minutes to get downtown in the am), or really slow but you have many options - 16th st, Beach Drive, CT ave. A lot of people also take the bus to the Metro in SS. My kids go to the school and we are very happy with it (in the English program). As for the crime, it's more so on the Silver Spring side (RCF straddles both SS and CC, Grubb road is the dividing line). I am not sure that overall there is more crime than anywhere else based on what I read in the Gazette. |
