Therapist?

Anonymous
Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but my husband and I are expecting our first and it is causing a great deal of stress (as well as happiness!). I was wondering if anyone could recommend a therapist in the Bethesda area (preferably one that takes Blue Cross Blue Shield!). Thank you!

Not to take over, but while we are on the topic, can anyone suggest a good psychiatrist to deal with post-partum depression? Montgomery County preferable. Thanks!

Most good therapists unfortunately don't take insurance.
Dr. James Hutchinson in Bethesda is very good; he's also a psychiatrist. Good luck.

I highly recommend Nancy Lithgow. She's a clinical social worker/licensed therapist. She has some specialty in couples/families/parent-baby counseling. She has an office on Capitol Hill and I believe she also has appointments at an office on Wisconsin in Upper NW, which would be close for you in Bethesda. Call her at 202-543-7700 to see if she would work for you. She may also be able to recommend someone else if she does not suit her needs. Here's a link with her info also. http://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/39811.html
Good luck - you're doing the right thing by seeking out therapy. Amazingly helpful.

PP here. Also, BCBS will pay for at least 75% of the cost of 10 appointments within a calendar year - check the website or call. After 10 appointments, you bear the cost, which sucks, but really, I found that the $100 per hour was well worth it for my mental health and sanity.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but just because you have Blue Cross and the OP has Blue Cross doesn't necessarily mean you get the same benefits. From what I understand, benefits are worked out between your company and your insurance company. I could be mistaken...but just wanted to make the OP realized that.

I highly recommend my hypnotherapist in Rockville. Like one of the previous poster said: it is so worth it, for your body and mind. It feels so good to have my emotion and thinking in alignment. I've never felt this good in my life! Finally in peace with myself. Here's my hypnotherapist's website: www.family-hypnosis.com
