We are having some new friends over for lunch. It will be fairly casual with kids included. We tend to just eat sandwiches or leftovers for lunch, so I don't really know what I should serve for lunch. (We usually only have people over for dinner, which seems easier to figure out.)
Does anyone have any ideas on what I could serve? It should be easy to make, but it doesn't have to be all that kid friendly, since the kids are really babies who don't eat real food yet. |

Cold cut platter and a couple of different types of breads. Let people make their own sandwiches. Maybe a cool mustard instead of plain yellow, etc.
And I'd do one garden salad and one pasta salad. |
| Quiche, green salad, maybe something sweet for after |
| I like making grilled cheese on "real" bread (like from the bakery dept at one of the stores, crusty, yummy) - with mozz, tomato, and fresh basil. Fruit salad with it. Something for dessert. |
| Order pizza and wings. |

With the cold weather coming, you could do soup - with a nice salad, maybe a selection of rolls. If you fear that not everyone would like the soup, you could do it in conjunction with the deli platter.
