Does where you go to college actually matter?

I know someone who has a bachelor's in communications from Yale, a master's in International Affairs from Georgetown, a PhD in Psychology from Harvard, and is underemployed and still paying student loans at the age of 47. I myself only have a bachelors from Coppin State in Information Systems and make way more than her without any debt. It is really about what you get your degree in.

This post is a proof it’s always the small peckers who claim that size doesn’t matter.

If you know you’re going to pursue a low-paying field, like social work or teaching, paying for a fancy college isn’t worth it. A high-end college - besides a great education - provides access to high-paying, glamorous careers that also require a lot of energy, persistence, and motivation. If you don’t have those personal characteristics, attending such a college may not have much material advantage.

Clearly you’re not a teacher if you think they don’t have these characteristics.

For most people, it is a necessary but not a sufficient condition for success. (Yes, I know about famous college dropouts who became billionaires so I don't need to have that pointed out).

As small peckers always claim the size doesn’t matter, it’s always the small-minded Podunk graduates who claim that prestige doesn’t matter.

You realize Yale doesn’t have a communications major right?

next time she'll do a little more research before writing fiction.

My husband transferred from Fordham to Wharton and he has been wildly, amazingly successful. Unbelievably successful. His father did give him a small loan, however.

But not everybody is a very stable genius.

I was a nobody at Andover school and again nobody at UVA. I married a wealthy wife because of my good look. I have more money than I know what to do with it.

Coppin is a diamond in the rough and punches way above its weight as far as how high-quality the education there really is.
