If you were not impress and you didn't feel the vibe then maybe is not for you. I think is an amazing school and, like in any other school, apart from its academics, it is very important to be aligned with its mission and values. Personally, I truly love the school. I couldn't be happier.

OP here: we decided to apply and see the process through. We are extremely happy we did. After the small group tour we were thoroughly impressed with the teachers, the students and the feel of the school. We met another family who is also applying who shared they where told the open house was a new event GDS did this year and they are planning to do some revamping to address some of the concerns addressed by people who attended (i.e., lack of tour, not as much substance provided by teachers during the Q&A and such). The parent who led our tour was also very helpful in answering some of our questions and was very candid about things. All in all we felt GDS would be the best fit for our family, so our fingers are crossed while we wait for a decision.

This is the whole problem -- judging kids by where their parents attended college.

Good luck! Agree. The teachers are great.
