Yes, the original last day of school was June 17. |
That's the regulation. You need to make up three days before seeking a waiver. I'm sure MCPS knew that already, but they put in for one after only adding two, presumably for show. They really just want to get rid of school days. |
But June 17 was the original last day of school. It is not a makeup day. -DP |
Maybe they mean to make it a full day? Howard county was able to make up a day by converting a half day to full. |
Maybe Howard was not meeting the hours requirements. Converting to full day does not affect the days requirement. |
That’s in MCPS. They should have incorporated more snow days into the calendar like they used to, and used the spring contingency days. And regardless, with a $3.4+B budget, this is going to be rounding error for them. |
Does it make you feel better to believe this? We are 13 days past 180 in terms of hours. Get a grip. |
Yes, let's punish all the people affected by this that had absolutely nothing to do with it,just to stick it to MCPS! Are you 10 years old? |
| The Union rep at our school said that the original last day was June 17 (half day), so now they will make June 17 full day, June 18 a 1/2 day and add back either April 6, April 15 or May 27. May 27 seems the least likely since it goes back to the original issue with March 20 (Eid). April 6 is pretty soon so they better figure this out so people can adjust plans. |
What does this plan come from? |
You don't think MCPS read the regulation governing waivers? The relevant section is about a half a page. Of course they knew they didn't meet the minimum requirements for a waiver. |
Holding school days is "punishment"? |
Show your math, please. And days and hours serve different purposes. |
They added days to meet the 180 day requirement. |
+1 What a rotten attitude about the value of school. I want my kids to makeup the 5 days they lost due to snow. Ideally MCPS would learn from the last two years in which it idiotically only put 1 snow day in the calendar, and be more like other Maryland districts that included 3-4 snow days. |
