| What in the world are "public ivies"? Is that like when portions of Rockville decides to call themselves "North Bethesda" to up the real estate prices? |
| JMU didn’t push out a beloved president. |
It’s like tacking the term “elite” on a club soccer team to fleece Range Rover parents. |
| My daughter loves JMU. Absolutely loves it. Very supportive and positive place to go to college. As a parent I have been very impressed. |
+1 Great school! |
| A friend’s DD was weightless at UVA and admitted to JMU. She was eventually admitted off the waitlist at UVA, but had housing and a roommate at JMU so decided to stick with it. She ended up being a very big fish at JMU. Did a ton of research, helped a professor publish a paper and joined him around the world presenting at conferences. In retrospect, she felt the decision was the best one she could’ve made. She was able to really stand out at JMU. She felt that she would’ve just barely squeaked by at UVA. Ended up in ivy for grad school so it definitely worked out for her. Don’t be afraid for your kid to take a different path. UVA is not the end all be all for a great life. |
| JMU! |
It really tells you all you need to know about the UVA moms that their first retort to any criticism of UVA alumni is to cite jealousy, like that is the only possible reason people think they're strivers who constantly need to give their resume. It does more verify the PP's experience than refute it. Everyone's not jealous of you and Larlo, Karen. |
