I am lost here-
how did these kids get admitted into Harvard in the first place then?? |
They have genuine talent. Most people who are important in the US cannot do calculus to save their lives. |
In that effect, does a kid who is great in Maths , and has a vigorous coursework and does well in tests get into Harvard? |
They would need to be IMO level to get in solely on their math skills |
Yes most applicants would need to be able to read too. But if they know how to read (at last barely) then ability to count is not necessary. Harvard is looking for future Presidents, after all! |
Some may have talent. Some may have potential. Some may look similar to someone with talent or potential, from the perspective of an AO that intentionally covers its eyes and ears. |
Those tech companies are largely built by Chinese people. |
And still managed to lack basic reading comprehension. Impressive! |
So, is her name on the new $100M poetry building at Harvard? Or do they keep their love for her super secret? |
Yup. See for example when some kids shot up a school in 1996, or when a famous con artist was elected President. America recovered quickly from those. Meanwhile stupid China grew GDP at 2-5x the rate USA did for the last half a century. |
That was before their new leader who changed the law so he has absolute power until death. |
Math 55 was gutted 10 years ago and replaced with a normal math class that just decided to gives 1 credit for taking 2 regular classes bundled together (probably to discourage DCUM-style students who want to tack up easy credits and graduate early),and segregates first years from other students. The IMO kids are at MIT, not Harvard. ISEF is pay to play, not a showcase of math talent. I don't believe at all that that kid who isn't even in the class knows who the "donor kids" are. Harvard's advanced math students don't care about "STEM". They care about math |
The election is still 2 months away. Oh, sorry, you were referring to the other one. |
Looks like we found another student that needs math MA5! |
+1 There are some brilliant kids in small towns who don’t have access to higher level math. |
