Do you think her kid is in bed by 8 pm? |
Oh lord, I’m the 5am wake up poster. My child is in 8th grade now and as I mentioned earlier he no longer wakes up at 5am but he did for a very long time in elementary school and younger. We hired sleep trainers and read all sorts of books to no avail. Because he had a very early natural wake up time, we made sure he went to bed at least 9 hours prior. Please don’t assume we didn’t try to fix this.
Today he got up at 730am on his own. He sets an alarm for 615 on school days for a 645 bus and is in his room with lights out at 945 or 10. |
You have two errors in your response. 1. You originally said there is no reason for ANYONE to get up at 5am. You didn't say "kids." 2. You have gaps in reading comprehension. Read the part that said "kids and ADULTS," which was in response to you saying there is no reason for ANYONE to get up that early. Additionally, prayer and meditation are certainly not temporary. LDS Seminary is four years of high school, which most would not consider temporary.. Fasting during Ramadan is not temporary (it occurs every year, for a set number of weeks each year), and OF COURSE people who are fasting are up that early because they need to eat, drink, wash, and pray PRIOR to the sun rising. Because you obviously think you know everything, I'm sure you are aware that the sun rises quite early in the spring, so Muslims rise quite early during Ramadan. Furthermore, your self-righteousness in using the term "regular kids" is appalling. Think about who you exclude when you imply that elite athletes, LDS children, and Muslim children are not regular kids. Your attitude is disgusting. |
Please get a life. Obviously we are in a thread about middle school start times (which I started) so we are talking about what kids do. Most kids do not get up at 5 am. In fact, the PP whose kid did, they thought it was abnormal too and tried to adjust it. Stop trying to make mountains out of a molehill. And yes, the Muslims are not getting up at 5 am daily for the entire year. It’s only during Ramadan. That is most definitely temporary, not permanent. It occurs every year but that just means it’s annually occurring. Why are you so bent out of shape? |
You need serious help. |
Can we get back to the topic? |
Everything saying earliest would be 25-26 school year. Know they need time to implement but was holding hope if hired contractor they would/could implement faster. |
The contractor hasn’t even worked on developing a plan yet. This is all weird PR by FCPS. |
I wish my work schedule was 9am-4pm |
Okay? Someone else might wish their work schedule were 6am to 2pm. Another might wish their work schedule were 7pm to 3am. Someone else might wish for a schedule of 12pm to 8pm. I'm not sure how wishing for a work schedule of 9am to 4pm is relevant to the discussion of school schedules. |
The Opinion Police have arrived to tell you you're wrong, PP. Sorry, maybe next time. |
+1 probably the same PP who was “appalled” that I used the term regular kids. |
Any update on this? My DD is in 5th so this would work out perfectly if all goes as planned. |
I think a lot of this is theater. The time has come to take a look, as promised, and my guess is that the results will recommend no significant change. |
+1 it can’t be done without affecting other times. We just don’t have the buses. |
