Correct. We in Arlington would handle this problem much better than you and your fellow DC residents. Unfortunately, this is your problem not ours. |

The old peple in VA aren't as easy to charm as the old in Ward 3 where the majority of the handouts to the other come from.
The victimhood goes much farther here. |
Just use the national guard. |
Forget gun nuts or “Trumpkins” come door to door in Arlington trying to round up us liberal gun owners and see how that works for you. I hope you’re wearing your big girl pants. |
it's true, the old people in Ward 3 practically clamor to be charmed. They're kind of weirdly gruff (like in terms of saying hello on the sidewalk or smiling in yoga at the gym) handout types. Grim givers. Like it's their lot in life. |
You also have people coming in from the suburbs. I know of people in MoCo who collect items/care packages to distribute to the homeless in DC. They go in, distribute gifts and then go back to their cushy suburban neighborhoods. Because they don’t want to live in a city with such ubiquitous homelessness. |
Hilarious. |
+1 I liked that part also. |
I have another homeless vagrant story from the ER. The guy was initially charming as can be. Wanted to know how long the wait. When he heard 1.5 hours, he was pretending to be so disappointed, but I could tell he was secretly thrilled. He says he was there (2 days in a row) because he tripped over his filthy back pack. Also thinks he has a snake bite. He rushes after giving his name to find a place on the floor to charge his phone. When they called him, he didn't want to go to the exam room. He was then told he had to leave if he wasn't there for emergency medical treatment. He starts swinging his fists at the nurse and security threatening them and screaming profanity. The charm was gone. It was night and day in a matter of 3 minutes time. |
He was pretending to have an emergency so he could charge his phone. |
It's cold out there... Tried to call friendship place to do a wellness check on a Tenleytown homeless person but just got their VM. These folks picked up right away. Please call in those wellness checks. It's miserable outside ![]() If you see someone outside in need of shelter or a welfare check, call the Shelter Hotline at (202) 399-7093 or dial 311. The shelter hotline is open every day from 8 AM - 12 AM. During hypothermia season (November 1 - April 15), the shelter hotline is open 24 hours a day. Transportation to shelter and welfare checks are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the hypothermia season. |
Union station smells like President bidet and heaxswallawa? |
Union Station is a federally owned facility run by Amtrak in partnership with the Department of Transportation. That includes the land out front and the parking lots. |
Some of them have knives and shivs. Guns would get sold in a heartbeat, along with them not being likely to legally have them in DC. Worst case they can be tazed. |
