College Acceptance Letters

| Do any colleges send out acceptance letters prior to the application deadline? Just curious because DS received a large envelope from the admissions office of a school that he has already applied to, but the deadline is not until Feb. 1. He completed his application back in December. I am wondering if it is an acceptance packet? and it's making me slightly crazy because he is refusing to open it! |

They do -- especially in this economy -- and you should encourage him to open it in case it's a request for more information or asking him to apply for an additional merit scholarship or something along those lines.

| OP here, He did just open it and it was an acceptance letter with a partial scholarship! So excited! |
