Are there any parent support groups?

Since birth our son has been an intense child and parenting him has been a journey filled with very low lows and very high highs. Lately I have been really wishing for an outlet where I could meet other parents facing similar struggles. I am not looking for a playgroup - I know how to find one of those. What I am looking for is an organzied group of parents who meet regularly to share their struggles and triumphs. I have poked around on the internet and not found anything. Does anyone know of any parent support groups in the DC or VA area?

Helen organizes these types of groups and is really fantastic.

Some of the counties in VA have programs through their early childhood intervention programs.
