Follistim

Anyone have any experience with this? I am starting an injectable cycle with iui. I have been doing clomid, but it has started to thin my lining.

Yes, I got pg on my third IUI with injectible follistim. I thought it stung terribly going into my leg, but I think I'm in the minority there. I've had friends who weren't bothered by it at al.

It's very powerful but very effective when the dosage is just right, which takes a lot of monitoring. My first time, I had a lot of follicles, but they were all really small. My second time, I had a huge follicle that grew too fast. My third time worked like a charm.

Good luck!

I've taken it numerous times as part of IVF. I never had any problems with it. I am a slow responder and was on the highest does my RE felt comfortable with.

13:21 poster here again. Give it to yourself in the stomach, not the leg. It is MUCH more painful to receive subcutaneous shots in your leg or arm than your stomach. If you are really worried then use an ice cube to numb the area first -- you won't feel a thing.

OP here. I am not too worried about the shots themselves. I did gonal-f with the clomid and had no trouble, and have been doing an ovidrel trigger the whole time. The shots don't hurt too much. I moreso want to hear if people had success, and what their side effects were like.

Here's a Follistim success story... I have PCOS. I did five cycles of clomid, several with IUI, with no success. Got pregnant (now at 30 weeks) on my first cycle of Follistim, without IUI. I don't remember any significant side effects from the Follistim at all. Good luck!

I was a recurrent miscarrier and only did follistim + IUI because my insurance required it before they would pay for IVF+PGD (my preference). Got pregnant with twins on our first shot. I now have two healthy, crazy, adorable girls thanks to follistim+ IUI.

No side effects that I remember.

Good luck to you.

16:06 here again. I got pg with IUI with follistim (and repronex) and acupuncture. my highest fsh ws 18.5 and I responded so minimally to injectibles alone that I was not considered a candidate for IVF and my RE was talking about donor eggs. acupuncture brought my fsh down to 9 and helped me produce 4 mature follicles during a medicated IUI cycle, as opposed to the ONE follicle I was producing without it. it took only two months of acupuncture to produce those results. it only takes ONE good egg to make a baby - acupuncture helps you produce healthier eggs and follistim helps you produce more eggs - together it's a powerful combo.

GL!
