I started diet so what does my husband do?.....

Anonymous
I started eating only fish/pasta/veggies and keeping the house full of mostly healthy food options so today my husband went to Whole foods and bought two massive steaks (3 inches thick) each, (he's cooking in the house now) and a bunch of crap-chocolate cookies, guac, buttermilk, ice cream, chips. Just crap. Stuff we don't ever have in our house, dieting or not. I'm so pissed and annoyed and hurt--he never supports me in anything. I really cannot stand him right now.

To play the devil's advocate...maybe he was feeling deprived on a diet of fish/pasta/veggies?

He had beef fajitas last night, I cooked chicken on Friday. I don't make them eat what I eat. He bought two large bags of junk food of crap. He's an unsupportive, self-absorbed jerk. And the house smells disgusting.

Hey, guacamole's not crap! It is if you eat the whole bowl, but good for you in moderation.

He's an unsupportive self-absorbed jerk because you have no self-control?

By the way, pasta is probably more fattening than the lean steak--and guac is good for you. Just eat less.

Take it out to the curb on trash day.

My husband would be livid if I thre out his food. Talk to him and let him know that it bothers you.

OP, it is your diet not his. If you can't control yourself then you will probably fail on your diet. He shouldn't have to suffer because of you. Good luck.

You sound hostile OP. are you gonna bomb all the fast food restaurants on the way to work too?

OP, you need to be responsible for what goes in your mouth, not your husband. I am warning you now, if you allow him to be in charge of what goes in your mouth then ice cream will be the least of your worries.

What is your goal? If it is to lose weight, this is ridiculous. I would be insensitive too if I had to watch one one make such poor decisions. Check back in 30 days, I'm pretty sure you will not have lost ny weight, and please don't blame it on your husband.

Next time you open your mouth, talk to him instead of eating more pasta - two birds with one stone.

I'm sorry, OP, that neither your husband nor the forum you turned to has been very supportive.

FWIW I think it sucks.

OP, I would be pissed too. If you are working hard to make changes in your diet, it is difficult if you have things around in the beginning that are not good choices.

Talk to him about it. Explain how it makes you feel and that you need him to help you get through this phase oh making a lifestyle change.

I guess all the PPs are skinny bitches with great willpower who never have problems eating the wrong foods.

Your diet is your diet. Don't blame stuff on him, even if he isn't being supportive. His "support" isn't going to get you to lose weight: your resolve is. So just resolve and do it.
