| I have no doubt I'm spelling this wrong, but it's like an Indonesian rice table. Is there any place in this area to experience it? Sabang in Wheaton is closed and I'm not getting any hits on Google. |

Rijsttafel....
I used to go to Sabang all the time 10 years ago. Sad to see it go (displaced Dutch person here). I haven't found any that are fancy resteraunts if that's what you're looking for. I've been to Satay Sarinah in Alexandria and that was pretty good...it's located in kind of a dumpy strip mall, but the food is good and you get the feeling you're in some place in Amsterdam having rijsttafel. Same vibe. |
| NP here. Thank you, PP for posting about Satay Sarinah. When I lived in Amsterdam, Tempo Doeloe was my favorite place to eat. Hell, it is still one of my favorite places. Unfortunately, I have never found Rijsttafel anywhere in the States, and it remains my holy grail of foodstuffs. Thanks for giving a girl a ray of hope. |
