Santorum Offends the Blah Vote

Here is the clip. It sounds to me more like "blind people" (or actually "bligh people") than like "black people". My guess is that he started to say something else and then stopped and changed it to "people". What do you think he was trying to say? It's at about 40 seconds.

I thought he said "blind". I don't like Santorum, but I don't see the race comment. Medicaid and Soc Security Disability Income both have provisions for the blind. And of course it is reasonable to think that it's better to help blind people get work than to receive disability payments and insurance.

I listened to five minutes of his speeches and he managed to offend just about anyone who's not a white, rich, heterosexual Christian male.

Good thing it was at the gym and I was able to go shower after that.

This could be the saddest rationalization I've ever heard. Perhaps he sad "bland" people. Because many people who are on public welfare are downtrodden, and so don't have outgoing personalities. Either way, there's a reason "blah" people don't vote for republicans. While white liberals may have the luxury of excusing casual racism, they're not the one's who are going to get it in the teeth.

Sorry, but if he said "black", that's the oddest pronunciation of the word I have ever heard. I didn't know it was spelled with an "i".

In it Santorum is asked to respond to the statement and he did not deny that he was referring to "black people". I still can't hear it that way, but he sure did or he wouldn't have responded in this way.

That's what I get for defending a right wing nutjob. I guess I'll try again in another 10 years.
