I'm fairly thin but my current down jacket is doing me no favors (just saw a roll of pictures of me from this weekend).
I've seen women in much nicer jackets that are actually fairly slimming. thank you for any suggestions! |

No, forget the North Face, you want the Patagonia Downtown Loft Parka:
http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/womens-downtown-loft-parka?p=28465-0-761 It's remarkably thin, fitted, and it's like walking around wearing a sleeping bag. |
The model looks like she's wearing a sleeping bag, I can only imagine it on me. Does it somehow look better in person? |
| How tall are you? And yes, it looks better in person. Got one in Chicago a year ago. We went to the North Face store, but there was nothing that didn't make me look like the Michelin Man. As always, go to the store and see what looks good on you. |
| I'm not the OP but you sold me on the long Patagonia. I'm going to try to find a place here to try it on. I'm 5'7. |
| Notice how the stitching on the Patagonia coat comes to a V? That helps create a slimming effect, and so does the shawl collar. Also, many down coats and jackets are belted to create a fitted line. Try looking for these features when you're shopping for a new coat. |

Op here.
what do you think of this one? http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/womens-down-with-it-parka?p=28436-0-762&pcc=1128 |

what color in this jacket do you prefer?

| The black or the blue. |
| These are all pretty nice. I think black works best in coats like this. |
| I bought a shorter down coat from Lands End last year. It has the "V" seaming and it was $79. |
I havn't seen any down coats on their site with the V. Can you provide a link to yours? |
| LL BEAN has a number of nice styles. |
| I have this one, and I love it: http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/calvin-klein-coat-long-down-walker-with-hood?ID=480425&CategoryID=269&LinkType=PDPZ1 |
