I guess they thought it would not be an issue in liberal maryland but they took it too far. Hope to see more late term killers charged http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/2-doctors-accused-of-performing-late-term-abortions-in-md-arrested-and-charged-with-murder/2011/12/30/gIQAfhXOQP_story.html?tid=pm_national_pop

Should be interesting to see what facts come out of this. Not sure I'd call Cecil County "liberal" though. That's the prosecutor who brought the case.

Oh, and "Yay Life", or whatever.

The criminalization of the practice of medicine is unconscionable.

As I understand it, the law was written to apply to situations where a pregnant woman it assaulted, and legal medical procedures were exempted. But a long grand jury investigation concluded that the law should be applied here. This may be a matter of criminal acts being carried out by a doctor, rather than criminalizing the practice of medicine.

A prosecutor could get a grand jury to indict a bologna sandwhich. A charge means nothing. A "conviction" would be a victory for the anti-abortion crowd.

I was on a grand jury in DC. We were a varied group, and sometimes our response was "WTF is the prosecutor thinking?"

I remember reading about these cases a few months again in the Baltimore papers. Assuming they are the same, the clinic conditions and 'medical care' were horrific....and the charges warranted.
