Freedom Bakery in Severna Park -- worth the drive?

Anonymous
We are newly gluten free. We had some baked goods from a bakery in Baltimore at Lilit Cafe and were not impressed. Has anyone had stuff from Freedom who could let me know if it is worth it to drive 60+ minutes. Thanks!

Sticky Fingers does GF

are you doing it by choice or b/c of an allergy or celiac disease?

OP here. We think dc has a gluten sensitivity. Only way to find out is to try to eliminate gluten. Thanks -- I'll look into Sticky Fingers.

I have been to Freedom. The cookies and eclairs were very good, the sandwich bread was not as good as Udi's. I would absolutely go by if you in the vicinity, but I'm not sure what you need that is worth the long drive.

FYI, for celiac disease, you need to be eating wheat, etc when you get the blood test so it is accurate. Not sure re: sensitivity.

Also, WF, Moms sells Rudi's GF bread, as well as packaged GF cookies. Glutino pretzels are great and most grocery stores carry them now.

a lot of restaurants have GF menus--Olive Garden, PF Changs

Thanks, pp. Dc was tested for celiac while still on gluten. Dc doesn't have celiac but has a lot of symptoms of gluten intolerance. Nutritionist recommended going gluten free to see if symptoms abate and pediatrician was fine with dc eliminating gluten.

Op again. There is an article in this month's Washingtonian about a woman who has gluten sensitivity/intolerance and not celiac.

Thanks, 10:17 and everyone. I've bought a lot from WF. I was just wondering if that bakery (Freedom) was so great that it warranted a stop for a special treat for dc. From what I've heard, it doesn't sound like it.

I second Sticky Fingers. They're GF stuff is delicious. Praline also has GF cakes, pralines, and meringues.
